Who We Are

Founded in 2020, by Ceramic Artist Sorsha Galvin, Homebird Pottery is a community‑based ceramics practice dedicated to making the craft of clay accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. The organisation offers public workshops, specialised classes, and collaborative projects that create welcoming, creative environments where participants can learn, connect, and explore clay as a medium for expression, wellbeing, and shared authorship. Its work ranges from supporting complete beginners in public workshops, to helping community groups develop creative skills and even build social‑enterprise models rooted in clay. Homebird Pottery also brings clay into schools through the Creative Schools programme and the Artists in Schools schemes, and provides in‑house education workshops for teachers. Alongside this, it delivers therapeutic, process‑based workshops for adults with intellectual disabilities, elderly participants and adults in active addiction, collaborating with organisations such as The Brothers of Charity Services, RADE, Clay Galway and the GRETB.

Across all of this work, Homebird Pottery demonstrates a strong commitment to accessibility, community engagement, and the belief that clay can be a powerful catalyst for creativity, connection, and collective storytelling
